Gradebook Built for Gulf & GCC University Standards
Gulf universities need bilingual transcripts, GPA exclusion for Arabic and Islamic studies courses, and grading scales aligned to NCAAA standards. OpenEduCat ships with both the 4-point scale (UAE, Qatar, Kuwait) and the 5-point variant (Saudi KSU/KFUPM), plus Arabic RTL rendering built into the transcript engine.
Escalas de Avaliação
Faixas de notas pré-configuradas incluídas no módulo Gulf / GCC. Nenhuma configuração manual necessária.
| Nota | Pontos / Intervalo | Descrição |
|---|---|---|
| A+ (Exceptional) | 4.0, 95 to 100% | Highest grade on GULF_4PT. A student scoring 97% in Islamic Finance earns 4.0 quality points. Same point value as a plain A (90-94%). |
| A (Excellent) | 4.0, 90 to 94% | Both A+ and A map to 4.0 GPA. A student at 92% and one at 96% earn the same quality points per credit. |
| B+ (Very Good) | 3.5, 85 to 89% | A student with 87% in Civil Engineering Design earns 3.5 quality points multiplied by the course credit hours. |
| B (Good) | 3.0, 80 to 84% | Solid mid-range. For a 3-credit course, this contributes 9.0 quality points toward the semester GPA. |
| C (Acceptable) | 2.0, 70 to 74% | Pass level for most programs. Students below this in health sciences face academic probation. |
| D (Marginal Pass) | 1.0, 60 to 64% | Minimum pass on the 4-point scale (60%). Students scoring below 60% receive F (0.0) and must reattempt. |
O Que o Módulo Gulf / GCC Faz
Recursos específicos do país que vão além do motor central do diário de notas.
Bilingual Arabic/English Transcripts
The Gulf transcript renders subject names in both Arabic and English. Arabic text uses RTL (right-to-left) display via lang="ar" sections. Subject names are stored with an arabic_name field alongside the standard English name. The transcript layout places Arabic content on the right and English on the left.
GPA Exclusion for Arabic/Islamic Studies
Many Gulf universities exclude Arabic language and Islamic studies courses from GPA computation while still showing them on the transcript. The exclude_from_gpa flag on each subject controls this. When flagged, the subject's credit hours and grade points are excluded from the GPA calculation but the grade still appears on the academic record.
Dual Scale Support (4-Point and 5-Point)
UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait typically use the GULF_4PT scale (max GPA 4.0, pass at 60%). Saudi universities like KSU and KFUPM use GULF_5PT (max GPA 5.0). Both are pre-loaded. The registrar selects the appropriate scale per program, no need to manually define grade boundaries.
NCAAA Honours Classification
Graduates are classified according to NCAAA standards: Mumtaz (Excellence) at 3.75+, Jayyid Jiddan (Very Good) at 3.50+, Jayyid (Good) at 3.00+, and Maqbul (Satisfactory) at 2.00+. The system computes the classification automatically at graduation based on the cumulative GPA.
Mid-Term / Final Exam Template
The default GULF_STD assessment template splits grading into Mid-Term at 40% and Final Exam at 60%. This matches the standard used across most Gulf universities. Custom templates can be created for programs with different splits.
3-Strike Re-Attempt Policy
Students get three attempts per subject. Failed attempts use the most recent grade for GPA. The cap at the pass mark (60%) applies to second and third attempts. After three failures, the subject is flagged as max_attempts_reached and requires academic committee intervention.
Política de Reavaliação
3-Strike Policy (Capped at Pass Mark)
Gulf universities typically allow three attempts per subject. The first attempt is uncapped. Second and third attempts are capped at the pass mark (60% for GULF_4PT). The most recent attempt is used for GPA calculation. After three failures, the system marks the subject as max_attempts_reached and sends an alert to the academic affairs office. The student cannot register for a fourth attempt without committee approval.
