German School Gradebook — Native 1–6 Note Scale with Freiversuch

The German 1–6 Note system is counter-intuitive for international software: 1 is the best mark, 6 is fail. OpenEduCat stores grades natively on this inverted scale, enforces the Freiversuch free-retry right automatically, converts Notes to Abitur Punkte (0–15) for university applications, and generates Gymnasial Zeugnisse for all 16 Bundesländer.

Aucune configuration manuelle requise.

NotePoints / PlageDescription
1 — Sehr gut1, ≥92%Excellent. A student scoring 94 in Mathematik earns Note 1. This is displayed as "Sehr gut" on the Zeugnis. In Abitur Punkte, Note 1 converts to 15 points.
2 — Gut2, ≥81%Good. The most common mark in Gymnasium upper years. Converts to 12–14 Punkte for the Abitur application.
3 — Befriedigend3, ≥67%Satisfactory. Passing mark in all Schulform types. Converts to 8–11 Punkte.
4 — Ausreichend4, ≥50%Adequate — minimum pass. A student with Note 4 across all subjects is promoted. Converts to 5–7 Punkte.
5 — Mangelhaft5, ≥30%Deficient. Subject failed; remediation required before promotion. Converts to 2–4 Punkte.
6 — Ungenügend6, <30%Complete failure. Note 6 is rare and triggers mandatory school intervention. Converts to 0–1 Punkte.

1

Native 1–6 Inverted Note Scale

The `de_note` field stores 1–6 with correct German descriptors displayed throughout the UI. The counter-intuitive direction (1=best) is explicit in every label, transcript, and PDF — preventing systematic errors.

2

Freiversuch Policy Enforcement

Freiversuch is a legally guaranteed right: if a student retakes an exam and scores worse, the original grade is kept automatically. OpenEduCat tracks Freiversuch per student per subject and enforces it at the data layer.

3

Abitur Punkte Conversion

The `de_punkte` field (0–15) is computed automatically from `de_note`. Both values appear on Abitur records for university admission (Hochschulzulassung). Note 1 = 15 Punkte; Note 4 = 5 Punkte.

4

Multi-Schulform Configuration

Configurable for Gymnasium, Realschule, Hauptschule, Gesamtschule, and BBS. Each Schulform has its own grade thresholds, promotion rules, and Zeugnis template.

5

Gymnasium Zeugnis PDF

Term and annual school report in standard German format with Note, descriptors, Punkte (Abitur years), and teacher remarks — formatted for all 16 Bundesländer.

Politique de Reprise d'Examen

Freiversuch (Free Retry) Policy

Freiversuch is a student right under German school law: a student may retake an examination once as a Freiversuch. If the retake produces a worse result, the original grade is automatically preserved. The system tracks this state per subject per student without manual intervention.

Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK), Landesrecht Notenordnungen in all 16 Bundesländer, standard Zeugnisformular conventions

The German Note scale has 1 as the best mark and 6 as fail. OpenEduCat stores grades natively on this scale, making the inversion explicit in every field and UI label. Using a converted scale would create systematic errors whenever notes are displayed or compared.
