Predikat Kelulusan
Predikat Kelulusan is the graduation classification on Indonesian university degree certificates. Three predicates exist: Dengan Pujian (Cum Laude, IPK ≥ 3.51), Sangat Memuaskan (Very Satisfactory, IPK 3.01–3.50), and Memuaskan (Satisfactory, IPK 2.76–3.00). Cum Laude has additional requirements: no D/E grades and completion within the normal study period. OpenEduCat evaluates all three conditions and assigns the Predikat automatically at graduation.
Predikat Kelulusan Thresholds
Four graduation outcomes based on IPK, study duration, and grade history.
| Predikat | English | IPK Range | Duration Limit | No D/E Required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dengan Pujian | Cum Laude | 3.51–4.0 | Must complete within normal study period (e.g., 8 semesters for S1) | Yes |
| Sangat Memuaskan | Very Satisfactory | 3.01–3.50 | No strict duration requirement | No |
| Memuaskan | Satisfactory | 2.76–3.00 | No strict duration requirement | No |
| (Lulus / Pass) | Pass | 2.0–2.75 | No strict duration requirement | No |

Dengan Pujian (Cum Laude), Full Requirements
Cum Laude is not awarded on IPK alone. All three conditions must be met.
Minimum IPKRequired
3.51 or above on a 4.0 scale. Some institutions set the bar higher (3.75) for top distinction.
Normal study durationRequired
S1 (bachelor's) must be completed within the maximum normal study period, typically 8–10 semesters depending on the institution. Students who extend beyond the normal period due to leave, repetition, or programme changes are typically ineligible for Cum Laude.
No grade below CRequired
No course may have a final grade of D (1.0) or E (0.0). This condition applies to the final recorded grade, even if a D was later improved through re-registration, some institutions still disqualify the student from Cum Laude.
BAN-PT accreditation effect
BAN-PT (National Accreditation Board for Higher Education) accreditation status of the programme affects the recognition of the Predikat. A Cum Laude from an A-accredited (Unggul) programme carries greater weight with employers and graduate admissions than from a B or C-accredited programme. Some institutions only award Cum Laude if the programme itself is BAN-PT accredited.
How OpenEduCat Assigns Predikat
Predikat Kelulusan assigned automatically at graduation
The Indonesia module pre-configures Predikat thresholds as advance.honours.classification records. When a student's final semester is published and all SKS are completed, OpenEduCat evaluates their IPK against the thresholds in descending order. The matching Predikat is written to the student record and appears on the generated graduation certificate and transcript without manual input.
Cum Laude failure condition enforced
The Dengan Pujian (Cum Laude) classification has requires_no_failures=True in the honours configuration. OpenEduCat checks that no advance.reattempt.subject record with grade D or E exists for the student before awarding Cum Laude. If any D or E grade was recorded (even if subsequently cleared) the system awards the next lower Predikat and flags the case for registrar review.
Study duration check against programme norm
Each op.course record stores the normal study duration in semesters. When evaluating Cum Laude eligibility, OpenEduCat compares the student's enrolled semester count against this norm. Students who exceeded the normal duration are automatically excluded from Cum Laude, regardless of IPK. The registrar can override this flag after review.
BAN-PT accreditation status on graduation documents
The Indonesia module stores BAN-PT accreditation grade (A/Unggul, B/Baik Sekali, C/Baik) on the programme record. This appears on the transcript and graduation certificate alongside the Predikat. When institutions renew their accreditation, updating the single field updates all future documents. Historical transcripts retain the accreditation grade valid at the time of graduation.
