Learning Management System (SaaS)
A fully hosted LMS that ships with courses, gradebook, SCORM 1.2/2004, xAPI, and Zoom out of the box. Provisioned in under 30 minutes, priced per user rather than per learner enrollment, and open-source at the core so you can self-host any time you outgrow the SaaS plan.
A learning management system SaaS is a cloud-hosted LMS delivered as a subscription service, where the vendor handles hosting, upgrades, and backups on behalf of the institution. OpenEduCat SaaS runs the openeducat_lms module on managed infrastructure with SCORM/xAPI support, gradebook, Zoom integration, and a mobile student app, starting at $19 per user per month with no per-course fees.

Instant Multi-Tenant Provisioning
Spin up a fully configured LMS tenant in under 30 minutes. Each institution gets a dedicated subdomain, isolated database, custom branding, and admin console. Scale from a pilot department to 50,000 learners on the same tenant without a re-platform.
SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, and xAPI Player
Upload SCORM packages built in Articulate 360, iSpring, or Adobe Captivate and play them natively. Full CMI-5 and xAPI Learning Record Store included, so completions and quiz results flow directly into the gradebook without middleware.
Gradebook with Weighted Categories
Configurable weighted grade schemes (percentage, GPA, letter grade, standards-based). Rubric-based marking, late penalty rules, and grade release workflows. Teachers grade offline in the mobile app and sync when back online.
Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams
Native OAuth connectors mean teachers schedule a class meeting from inside the LMS. Recordings, attendance rosters, and breakout notes are attached to the session record. No paid Zoom SDK subscription required.
Course Authoring and Content Library
Build courses from PDFs, videos, quizzes, discussion boards, and assignments in a drag-and-drop editor. Reusable content library so a single lecture asset can be linked across multiple sections without duplication.
Mobile Learner App (iOS and Android)
Native apps for learners with offline course download, push notifications, and biometric login. Content plays without internet once downloaded, critical for regions with intermittent connectivity per UNESCO 2024 connectivity gap data.
Reporting and xAPI Analytics
Course completion, time-on-task, quiz distribution, and cohort comparison dashboards. Export to CSV, connect Metabase or Power BI to the read-only analytics database, or stream xAPI statements to an external LRS.
GDPR-Ready Hosting and Data Residency
Choose EU (Frankfurt), US (Virginia), India (Mumbai), or APAC (Singapore) hosting region. Data processing agreements, subprocessor list, and encryption keys under your control. SOC 2 Type II hosting via underlying cloud providers.

Districts run 12 legacy tools for LMS, video, quizzes, and gradebook. IT spends every August rebuilding SSO between them and half of them break by October.
solutionPage.useCasesOutcomeLabel
One SaaS tenant replaces the stack. Google Workspace SSO, Zoom, and gradebook are pre-wired. IT reallocates the migration budget to classroom tech instead of integration glue.
solutionPage.useCasesChallengeLabel
Faculty want to author interactive content but the current LMS charges per-course fees that make small elective offerings uneconomic.
solutionPage.useCasesOutcomeLabel
Flat per-user pricing means the 12-student philosophy elective costs the same to run as the 400-seat intro class. Faculty deploy SCORM modules without budget approval per course.
solutionPage.useCasesChallengeLabel
HR needs a compliance LMS but IT will not host it. Vendors either lock data in or price by learner-enrollment, which triples costs during onboarding surges.
solutionPage.useCasesOutcomeLabel
SaaS handles hosting and audit logs. Per-active-user pricing means seasonal spikes do not create surprise invoices. xAPI streams to the corporate LRS to satisfy L&D reporting requirements.

What is the difference between OpenEduCat SaaS and self-hosted Community?
OpenEduCat Community is the same open-source LMS code you install on your own servers, free under LGPLv3. OpenEduCat SaaS is the same code running on our managed hosting with backups, upgrades, and a 99.9% uptime SLA. Both use identical data models so migrating from SaaS to self-hosted (or the reverse) is a database dump and restore.
How is SaaS pricing calculated?
Pricing is per active user per month, starting at $19. An active user is anyone who logs in during the billing month. Teachers, students, admins, and parents all count once regardless of how many courses they access. There are no per-course, per-quiz, or per-enrollment fees.
Does the SaaS LMS support SCORM and xAPI?
Yes. SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 (3rd and 4th edition), and xAPI 1.0.3 are supported natively. You can upload existing packages from Articulate 360, iSpring, Adobe Captivate, or any AICC-compliant tool. xAPI statements can also stream to an external Learning Record Store if your L&D team already runs one.
Can we connect Zoom or Google Meet?
Yes. Both Zoom and Google Meet connect via OAuth in about five minutes. Teachers schedule meetings from inside a course, and recordings, attendance, and chat transcripts are attached to the class record. Microsoft Teams is supported through the Teams for Education Graph API.
Where is our data stored?
You choose the hosting region during onboarding: EU (Frankfurt), US (Virginia), India (Mumbai), or APAC (Singapore). Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. A signed Data Processing Agreement is included at no extra cost for institutions subject to GDPR or India's DPDP Act.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. A 30-day full-feature trial is provisioned within 30 minutes. There is no credit card requirement. If you decide to continue, your trial data is preserved and rolled into your paid tenant with no re-import needed.
Can we brand the SaaS LMS with our institution logo and domain?
Yes. Custom subdomain (lms.yourschool.edu), logo, colors, favicon, and login page copy are configurable in the admin console. Enterprise plans include a fully custom domain with a managed SSL certificate.
What happens if we want to leave the SaaS plan?
You can export a full PostgreSQL database dump and every uploaded file at any time. Because the same open-source code powers the SaaS and Community editions, you can spin up self-hosted OpenEduCat and restore the export with no vendor migration project. There is no data lock-in.
