Yes. Deployments at university scale run on PostgreSQL clusters with horizontal read replicas and typically serve 30,000 to 80,000 users on 4 to 8 CPU cores per application node. Institutions with more than 100,000 users usually run the Enterprise tier with dedicated infrastructure engineering support.

How is this different from Ellucian Banner or Workday Student?

Banner and Workday Student are proprietary SaaS or licensed products that cost mid to high six figures USD per year for a mid-size university and lock data inside vendor-controlled cloud regions. Can we start with a few modules and add more later?

Yes. OpenEduCat modules are Odoo apps that can be installed and configured independently.
