School Management System in Egypt

An open-source school ERP that speaks Arabic and English, handles Thanaweya Amma grade workflows, and lets you collect tuition in EGP via Fawry or Vodafone Cash. Built to be adapted by your in-house team or a local Egyptian partner — not licensed per seat, per term.

A school management system in Egypt is software that centralizes admissions, attendance, timetables, Thanaweya Amma and term exam tracking, fee collection in EGP, and parent communication for K-12 schools serving Egyptian, IGCSE, IB, and language curricula. OpenEduCat is global open-source software that schools in Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, and across the governorates configure to match Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MoETE) workflows.

Bilingual Arabic + English UI (RTL)

Right-to-left Arabic interface for teachers, accountants, and parents, with one-click switch to English for international school staff. Report cards, fee receipts, and parent portal screens render correctly in both directions. Mixed-language schools in Maadi, New Cairo, and Alexandria can run a single deployment instead of two systems.

Hijri & Gregorian Calendars Side-by-Side

Schedule terms, exams, and holidays on the Gregorian academic calendar while showing Hijri dates on student-facing screens and parent communications. Ramadan timetables, Eid breaks, and national holidays defined once and reused every year.

Thanaweya Amma & Term Exam Tracking

Configurable grading sheets for Egyptian secondary-stage subjects, term tests, and Thanaweya Amma mock results. Track per-student progress across Arabic, religion, second language, science, and humanities streams. Export consolidated grade sheets in the format your school submits to the local educational directorate (mudiriya).

Custom Report Templates for MoETE Forms

Report card and student record templates are editable QWeb files, not locked PDFs. Your IT team or a local Odoo partner can match the exact column order, header logos, and Arabic typography that MoETE inspectors and parents expect — including bilingual report cards for language schools.

Parent WhatsApp & SMS Integration

Send attendance, fee, and exam-result notifications to parents via WhatsApp Business API or local SMS gateways. Most Egyptian parents read WhatsApp before email — meet them where they already are. Threaded conversations on student records keep front-office staff and homeroom teachers aligned.

EGP Fee Collection via Fawry & Vodafone Cash

Issue tuition invoices in Egyptian pounds with installment plans matching the Egyptian school year. Connect to Fawry, Vodafone Cash, or Paymob via standard payment-gateway integrations so parents can pay from any kiosk or mobile wallet. Cash, cheque, and bank-transfer reconciliation handled in the same fees module.

National Schools (Arabic Curriculum)

solutionPage.useCasesChallengeLabel

Government national schools and Arabic-curriculum private schools juggle handwritten attendance, Excel grade books, and WhatsApp groups — then scramble at end of term to assemble reports in the format the mudiriya requires.

solutionPage.useCasesOutcomeLabel

A single bilingual system holds attendance, grades, and fee records. Term reports and Thanaweya Amma mock sheets export to your local educational directorate template. Parents see grades in Arabic on the same day teachers enter them.

International Schools in Cairo & Alexandria (IGCSE / IB)

solutionPage.useCasesChallengeLabel

International schools in New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, Maadi, and Alexandria need IGCSE or IB gradebooks for academics, but still must produce Arabic-language compliance reports and collect fees in EGP from local parents.

solutionPage.useCasesOutcomeLabel

Run IGCSE/IB scales and rubrics alongside Arabic report cards. Tuition billed in EGP through Fawry or bank transfer, with English statements for expatriate families. One platform for the academic team, the bursar, and the Arabic-language compliance officer.

How good is the Arabic interface — is it a real Arabic UI or a machine translation?

The Arabic translation is community-maintained and covers all core school workflows (admissions, attendance, fees, exams, parent portal). RTL layout, Arabic numerals, and Hijri dates render correctly. Some niche admin screens still mix languages; a local Egyptian Odoo partner can finish translations specific to your school in days, not months. Because the system is open-source, every translation file (.po) is editable by your team.

Can it produce Thanaweya Amma reports and the formats our local educational directorate (mudiriya) accepts?

OpenEduCat handles grade entry, weighting, and student transcripts for term and Thanaweya Amma mock exams. Final report layouts for MoETE submissions are editable QWeb templates — your IT team or a local partner customizes them to match the exact format your governorate expects. We do not claim a pre-built MoETE certification; we claim that the templates are yours to shape.

Does it integrate with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB)?

There is no official EKB connector out of the box. The MoETE's Education 2.0 reform and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank are public resources that students access directly. OpenEduCat can embed EKB links inside lesson plans and the LMS module, and assignment workflows can reference EKB content. A custom connector to EKB single-sign-on can be built — discuss scope with us or a local Egyptian implementation partner.

Can we host the data inside Egypt?

Yes. OpenEduCat is self-hostable on any infrastructure — a local Egyptian data center, AWS Middle East (Bahrain) me-south-1, or your school's on-premise server. You decide where the database lives and who has access. If your school's policy or a forthcoming MoETE rule requires in-country hosting, you are not waiting on a vendor to comply — you move the server.

What is the total cost in EGP for a 500-student school?

The Community Edition is free to download and run. Real costs are hosting (a modest VPS in Egypt or AWS me-south-1 typically runs 500-2,500 EGP/month for 500 students), and one-time implementation by a local Odoo partner (typical range 60,000-250,000 EGP depending on customization depth, Arabic report templates, EKB linking, and payment-gateway setup). Optional Enterprise modules and support contracts are priced per institution, not per student — so cost does not scale linearly as your school grows.
