School Management System in Tunisia

An open-source school management platform built for the bilingual Arabic-French reality of Tunisian education — from lycées privés in Tunis and Sfax to AEFE French Mission schools in Sousse. Track the Baccalauréat tunisien, accept TND via D17 and e-Dinar, and produce reports your direction régionale already recognises.

A school management system in Tunisia is software that helps lycées, écoles privées and AEFE-aligned French Mission schools manage admissions, bilingual Arabic-French academic records, Baccalauréat tunisien results, parent communication and TND fee collection in line with Ministère de l'Éducation reporting and INPDP data-protection rules.

Bilingual Arabic + French UI (RTL ready)

Full right-to-left Arabic alongside French (langue d'enseignement des matières scientifiques). Staff switch languages per session; bulletins, SMS and emails go out in the language each famille chose — critical for mixed-language households in Tunis and Sousse.

Baccalauréat tunisien tracking

Track the 7 séries (Mathématiques, Sciences expérimentales, Sciences techniques, Informatique, Économie & gestion, Lettres, Sport) with official Tunisian coefficients. Compute moyennes trimestrielles, devoirs de contrôle and devoirs de synthèse exactly as the Ministère de l'Éducation specifies, including the 25% contrôle-continu rule of the bac unifié.

Ministère & Madrassati-aware reports

Bulletins, relevés de notes and statistical exports formatted for the direction régionale de l'éducation. Aware of the national Madrassati platform (edunet.tn) — exports student lists, attendance and grade summaries in the columns Madrassati accepts, so écoles privées can submit annual returns without re-keying data.

TND payments — D17, e-Dinar, virement bancaire

Collect frais de scolarité in dinars through D17 (Poste Tunisienne wallet), e-Dinar cards, and SIBTEL virements via BIAT, Attijari, BNA, STB and UIB. Receipts auto-numbered for the recette des finances; no USD detour required.

Hijri + Grégorien dual calendar

Display both calendars side by side for religious instruction scheduling, Ramadan timetable shifts and national holidays (20 mars, 9 avril, 25 juillet, 13 août, 15 octobre, 17 décembre). AEFE schools can also overlay the French academic calendar so terms align with the réseau.

AEFE + national-system awareness

Switch between the Tunisian programme officiel and the AEFE / Mission laïque française curriculum at the établissement level. AEFE schools (Pierre-Mendès-France de Tunis, Gustave Flaubert La Marsa, Lycée Français de Sousse) get French bulletin templates; lycées tunisiens get the standard national bulletin.

Écoles privées tunisiennes (Tunis, Sfax, Sousse)

solutionPage.useCasesChallengeLabel

Spreadsheets in French and Arabic that don't talk to each other, manual Baccalauréat coefficient calculations, parents calling the secrétariat for grades, end-of-year Madrassati submissions taking weeks.

solutionPage.useCasesOutcomeLabel

One platform with bilingual bulletins, automatic moyennes, parents seeing notes in real time, Madrassati exports in one click.

French Mission Schools (AEFE-aligned)

solutionPage.useCasesChallengeLabel

Running on French metropole tools that don't handle Arabic names, Hijri dates, TND invoicing or the Tunisian holiday calendar — plus a separate system for the matières arabes mandated by Tunisian law.

solutionPage.useCasesOutcomeLabel

One établissement-wide system covering both the AEFE curriculum and the obligatory Arabic-language Tunisian programme, with TND billing for local families and EUR for expats.

How good is the Arabic and French UI? Can the same school use both?

Yes — every user picks Arabic (full RTL layout) or French independently, and parent communications go out in whichever language the famille declared at inscription. Bulletins, SMS and the parent portal all switch language without any export-import dance. This matches the bilingual reality where direction administrative often works in French while sciences humaines and éducation islamique are taught in Arabic.

Does it integrate with Madrassati, the national Ministère de l'Éducation platform?

OpenEduCat is Madrassati-aware rather than directly federated — Madrassati (edunet.tn) does not currently expose a public API for third-party SIS systems. What we provide are one-click exports in the exact column layouts Madrassati's annual returns accept: student rosters, attendance, grade summaries and statistical declarations to the direction régionale. Écoles privées that previously spent weeks re-keying data typically finish the same submission in an afternoon.

How is the Baccalauréat tunisien handled?

Each of the 7 séries is configured with its official coefficient table. The system computes moyennes trimestrielles using the Tunisian rule set — devoirs de contrôle (DC), devoirs de synthèse (DS), and the 25% contrôle-continu weighting that feeds the bac unifié. For terminales, you can project a moyenne générale d'orientation that matches what the conseil de classe will see.

Are we compliant with INPDP (Loi organique n° 2004-63 on personal data)?

OpenEduCat ships the technical controls INPDP expects from a responsable de traitement: role-based access, full audit log of who viewed or changed any élève record, parental consent capture at inscription, right-to-export and right-to-erasure workflows, and AES-256 encryption at rest. Because you self-host, the registre des traitements stays under your school's control. INPDP registration of the treatment itself remains the school's responsibility.

Can we host it in Tunisia, or do we have to use EU servers?

Both work. Lycées tunisiens and écoles privées preferring local data residency run OpenEduCat on Tunisian providers (Topnet, Tunisie Telecom Cloud) or on an on-premise server in the établissement. AEFE schools often pick Paris or Frankfurt for parity with their réseau. No SaaS lock-in: data, source code and backups stay with you.

What does it cost in TND for a 600-student école privée?

The Community Edition is free forever — open-source, no per-student licence. Schools typically spend on three items: hosting (80–250 TND/month), one-time implementation (4 000–12 000 TND for a partenaire local covering Arabic-French bulletin templates, Baccalauréat coefficient setup and D17/e-Dinar configuration), and optional support. For 600 élèves the all-in first-year cost is usually a fraction of one term's fees from a SaaS competitor.
